Teaching Tip: This song, craft, and book teach so many early childhood skills! Vocabulary, articulation, rhythm, melody, and fine motor skills are all taught. If you are ever feeling like you are not teaching your child enough, remember one activity is generally teaching more than one skill. Pick an activity you did with your child. List out what your child was exposed to and what your child learned during that activity.

Teaching Tip: Be intentional when picking and implementing activities. What does your child need to know? You can look up general answers to this by looking at the CDC's developmental milestone checklist on their website or you could search for another child developmental website with this information. You can also ask your child's primary care doctor if you think there could be a delay. What is your child interested in? Children learn best when they are interested in the topic being taught. Go off your child's interests. Read books, go places, watch shows, and plan activities to go with their interests. If your child is interested in the activities on this page, see if you can plan a visit to a farm. Maybe go to a local Atwoods or other store in the spring and see the baby chicks and ducks. If possible introduce new topics with something familiar. For example, when my daughter was interested in farm animals and I used it to introduce the Spanish words for those animals. We also taught letter sounds. C is for Cow. D is for Duck. T is for Tractor.

Encouragement: Songs and play are the foundations of a good education. You can do that, Mommy, Daddy, or Primary Caregiver!
